Xiaomi Mi 11 has been officially presented , but what happened to Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro ? We expected Xiaomi to take the opportunity to present at least two top of the range, but this was not the case. Xiaomi probably preferred to postpone its high-end proposal, wanting to anticipate everyone in launching a first model equipped with Snapdragon 888. However, it does not seem that it will be long before the Pro variant is also presented. In this article you will find all the rumors about the data sheet, price and release date.
Update 18/03 : Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro may have a Second Display like the Ultra model. Will it really be so? Find all the details in the “Design and Display” section below.
All the news coming with Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro: here’s what we know
Design and display
According to rumors, Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro should be substantially the same as the base model, except for the photographic module. The dimensions should not vary substantially, by virtue of the same excellent display mounted on Mi 11. This means a 6.81 ″ Quad Curved AMOLED HDR10 + perforated panel (3200 x 1440 pixels) in 20: 9 with a density of 515 PPI and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Among its advantages there would be the Adaptive Sync technology with dynamic refresh rate at 120 Hz and touch sampling at 480 Hz .
In addition to boasting a maximum brightness of 1,500 nits , it has JNCD fidelity values lower than 0.38 and Delta E lower than 0.41 which make it one of the best displays ever seen on smartphones. In addition, its sensor in the display uses Goodix technology , thus being able to measure the heartbeat.
While an essentially unchanged design is expected for the front, this will not be the case for the rear. The well-known designer Ben Geskin has created a render image of Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro based on rumors and a sketch leaked on the net, showing a photographic module that recalls that of the standard Mi 11, albeit expanded (given the presence of a Quad Camera ).
However, live images and videos have popped up on the net showing what the true rear design of the super flagship would be. Based on what can be seen, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro sector seems very similar in shape to that of Mi 11. But in essence we see a substantial difference, namely the addition of a periscopial telephoto lens immediately below the primary sensor. The third sensor on the right will almost certainly be a wide angle, while outside the box we see the notch for the LED flash. No macro, therefore, unless the wide angle can also be used for extremely close shots.
To further complicate the situation, we think a new leak from China. According to some media there is the possibility that Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro may have a photographic module with a mini Second Display , just like the Ultra model (of which you will find all the details and rumors about it here ).
A shot from the assembly line shows us the photographic module (or rather, the body of this one) that should make up the back of the Mi 11 Pro , not the Ultra model, as specified by the Chinese media. Obviously there is no absolute certainty and this leak also goes in contrast with previous rumors. The module seen in the photo offers space for two sensors, the flash and an additional section large enough to accommodate a periscope lens. Then we note a further space, which could be dedicated to the alleged Second Display mini, in the style of Mi 11 Ultra. Will it really be so?
As well as Mi 11, Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro will also be one of the first top of the range in the world to have the Snapdragon 888 produced by Qualcomm. The 5nm production process allows to integrate an improved and enhanced Kryo 680 CPU: 1 x 2.84 GHz Cortex-X1 + 3 x 2.42 GHz Cortex-A78 + 4 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55. The graphics component is entrusted to the Adreno 660 GPU, with 35% improved performance.
A novelty we could find it in the memory cuts: Mi 11 is available in variants from 8/128 GB, 8/256 GB and 12/256 GB. Mi 11 Pro could go further, with 16GB of RAM and / or 512GB of storage. The presence of symmetrical stereo speakers made in collaboration with Harman / Kardon will be much appreciated.
While the size should remain roughly the same, it is rumored that the battery is expected to go from 4,600mAh to 5,000mAh . It would be a dual-cell unit, a setup that should allow for faster and more effective charging.
And precisely with regard to the charging of this smartphone, after many hypotheses and rumors about the speed that first wanted a support at 120W and then at 80W (of which you can find our focus below) for wireless, there are now more “realistic” news and concrete.
Thanks to the 3C certification, we learn about the charging which should be 67W , therefore higher than the 55W of the Mi 11, but which on the Pro model should marry the same technology present on Meizu 18 Pro , in the sense that both wired charging and wireless will have the same maximum wattage . This is certainly a very interesting and important feature for a product that aims to be Xiaomi’s flagship par excellence.
The real turning point for Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro should be in the photographic sector, where Mi 11 base does not excel in hardware. The primary sensor may seem like a step backwards, not being the MP 108 of Mi 11. In its place there would be a 50 MP sensor, even though there are conflicting reports on what will be. In the beginning we mention the new Samsung S5KGN1 , a 1 / 1.31 ″ ISOCELL Plus sensor with 1.2 µm pixels, Dual Pixel autofocus and 8K video recording capacity at 30 fps. But other rumors indicate the Sony IMX766 , already in operation aboard Honor V40 and OPPO Reno 4 Pro + .
The reason for this change is easy to say: Mi 11 does not have a telephoto lens, therefore it needs a sensor with so many pixels to be able to perform high quality crops. On the contrary, Mi 11 Pro will be equipped with a periscopial telephoto lens . It would be a 48 MP sensor with OIS, able to offer a 5x optical zoom and 120x digital. The wide angle would also change, with a 0.5x wider FoV than the 0.6x of Mi 11. We also mention the presence of a video lens , with the wide angle that could take care of recording clips. On the software side, then, we should find all the welcome innovations introduced with Mi 11 .
Yet another confirmation regarding the presence of a 50 MP main sensor comes to us directly from MIUI or better from the latest version of the Camera application. Inside the software code, a string was found with reference to a Xiaomi smartphone with a 50 MP module. Obviously it is impossible not to come up with Mi 11 Pro ; however, there is also another possibility, which is that it could be Mi 11 Ultra .
