Verification C19, here is the app for checking the Green Pass

The VerificationC19 app for checking the Green Pass is already available for download and will be used by service managers and law enforcement agencies. With the obligation of the green certificate to take part in activities and access gathering places, checks also come, facilitated by the application of the Ministry of Health. The application allows appointees to check the validity of Covid-19 passes by reading the famous QR code . The app will be used starting from 6 August, the date on which the anti-covid decree will take effect.

The vaccination campaign continues to flourish, and after the announcement of the mandatory green certification for access to various facilities and events, reservations have experienced a sharp surge. The Green Pass will serve to regulate not only entry to places of culture and entertainment and restaurants, but also national and international travel. It is also thought to extend the obligation of the certificate also for the use of public transport, but for the moment it is not yet confirmed.

Check C19: how the Green Pass app works

The national verification application of the Green Pass allows you to validate the documents of pass holders, and is designed for law enforcement and service managers and gathering places. In a circular from the Ministry of last June 28, the use of the app is detailed, specifying the flow of use.

Verification C19 allows you to verify the QR code without having to access the internet and without storing the sensitive data of the citizen on the smartphone. The control is based on a database of keys that the app downloads daily, allowing it to be used even offline. When the person in possession of certification shows the QR code to the operator, the only information displayed is the name, surname and date of birth of the holder, necessary to confirm the identity of the owner.

The app informs you if the certificate is invalid, also specifying if it has expired . The validation rules are stored in VerificationC19 and provide for certain validity periods:

  • a complete vaccination cycle guarantees 270 days (9 months) of validity of the certificate;
  • a vaccination course with a single dose is valid from 14 days after the dose up to the maximum time for the next one (42 days for Moderna and Pfizer, 84 for Astrazeneca);
  • a rapid molecular or antigen test guarantees 48 hours of validity;
  • healing from Covid-19 guarantees 180 days (6 months) of validity starting from the first positive swab.

The application has access to a public key system used by the states of the European Union to sign and validate the certificate. The synchronization and updating of the keys takes place daily through a European gateway that collects the keys of the member states and keeps them updated according to the validity rules, inserting new keys and deleting the old ones. In this way, the app does not save the data of the individual certifications locally .

Who can use the app?

Only authorized operators can use VerificationC19 to verify the green pass , as was the case for Immuni in the case of positivity.
