One big and one small upgrade, RTX 3050Ti has made significant progress
Since the FH14 series is still in a product cycle, the mold of this FH14 Ultra has not changed compared with the previous FH14 and FH14 Pro, and even the weight of the body remains at 1.4KG, which will never increase the burden.
So where is this upgrade?
First of all, the biggest upgrade is of course the graphics card upgrade from the previous Nvidia GTX 1650Ti to RTX3050Ti (60W mobile version). Although the video memory is all GDDR6 4GB, the number of CUDA cores of the RTX 3050Ti has reached 2560 compared to the former 1024 CUDA cores. In addition, RTX3050Ti also supports DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology, which can optimize the frame rate performance and make up for the lack of 4GB of video memory.
More importantly, RTX3050Ti is an entry-level graphics card for ray tracing, and this is a cross-epoch. Compared with the top-equipped VAIO FH14 Pro (i7-11370H+GTX1650Ti), this time the top-equipped VAIO FH14 Ultra (i7-11390H+RTX3050Ti) performed much better in the 3D Mark.
In the Time Spy test session, the FH14 Ultra scored 5099, while the VAIO FH14 Pro (i7-11370H+GTX1650Ti) scored 3736 in the Time Spy session. This gap is still quite large.
Implemented in the game, in a game that has been released for 3 years, such as "Battlefield 5", the RTX3050Ti can almost reach the level of 85FPS or more under the full high quality of 1080P. Of course, due to the size of the FH14 Ultra, the power of the RTX3050Ti is limited to 60W. The disadvantage is that it is not a full-blooded version, but the advantage is that the heat dissipation pressure is not large. In the entire test session, the body heat performance was quite good. At a room temperature of about 25 ℃, the notebook C-side was only slightly hot, indicating that I was working hard.
As for the upgrade of i7-11390H compared to i7-11370H, we know from the name that the rise is indeed a little bit, but not so obvious. Officials said that in Cinebench 20, the former performs 10% better than the latter.
However, in my test, there is not much difference between the performance of the two. Because the main frequency is a little higher, the i7-11390H can cross the threshold of 2500 points for multi-core and 600 points for single-core in Cinebench 20. The actual performance of the corresponding i7-11370H is in the early 2400s of the multi-core and the early 580s of the single-core. Strong is indeed stronger, but this enhancement is smaller than the upgrade from GTX1650Ti to 3050Ti.
Interestingly, in PC Mark 10, VAIO FH14 Ultra also crossed the threshold of 6000 points. So it seems that it really exists to cross the integer threshold of several running sub-software.
In fact, compared to the changes mentioned above, it is more unchanged. After all, from the outside, it is exactly the same as its brothers, except that the Nvidia sticker has a letter change. Another example is that 2TB hard drive and FH14 Pro are the same model.
However, thinking about the recent news that the new MacBook has re-added the SD card slot and HDMI interface, I can’t help but sigh. Japanese manufacturers have kept changing the number of ways. If I have to say something to look forward to, then I still hope that it can use the 3:2 ratio screen in the next generation product line. Although the 16:9 screen is the mainstream now, considering the FH14 Ultra positioning productivity device, plus the current three sides The narrow bezel design seems to have a slightly wider chin. The 3:2 screen may be a better solution in terms of function and appearance, and of course the cost may be higher.
In terms of performance and interface, it focuses on productivity people, such as designers and video workers. In fact, the FH14 Ultra has also passed the certification of the color agency Pantone on the screen.
