The electrified Audi Quattro, is it a tribute or a blasphemous?

When it comes to the World Rally Championship, what do you think of? Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution? Subaru Impreza? Or Audi Quattro?

From 1979 to retirement in 1987, Audi Quattro let people see the power of the four-wheel drive system, especially the Sport Quattro S1, which was born for WRC Group B.

This mechanical beast roared and rushed to the mountain road of San Remo, drifting in the limit of grip, and won the championship of the 1985 San Remo Rally by a huge advantage.

However, as the International Motorsports Committee officially cancelled the Group B event, the Audi Sport Quattro S1 also came to a close.

What would it be like if these beasts were electrified? E-Legend AG, a German electric car manufacturer, has the answer.

The manufacturer of Belgris in Bavaria has launched an electric super sports car inspired by Audi Sport Quattro, the E-Legend EL1.

According to E-Legend, EL1 has 805 horsepower. It only takes 2.8 seconds to complete zero-hundred acceleration. It can increase the speed to 200 km/h in less than 10 seconds, and the maximum speed can reach 255 km/h.

As you can imagine, this is not a complete re-enactment. Thanks to the design of the carbon fiber monocoque, the EL1 equipped with a 90kWh battery weighs only 1680 kg and can travel 400 kilometers in four-wheel drive.

If you want, you can also drive this sports car around the Nürburgring in SportPlus mode for two laps and quickly charge up to 150 kilowatts.

E-Legend AG was founded by designer Marcus Holzinger. He is a big fan of motorsports, and the legend of Audi Quattro has had a profound influence on him since he was a child.

For the EL1 project, Holsinger assembled an experienced and passionate team of automotive experts. They seem to focus on performance to match the stunning appearance of EL1.

At the same time, they are also equipped with three-way adjustable sports suspension and high-performance braking system.

It is said that the E-Legend EL1 is completely assembled by hand, with a starting price of 890,000 euros. It is planned to be launched in 2022 and will be limited to 30 units.

However, the Audi Quattro-style EL1 will not be the only model inspired by rally racing.

E-Legend claims that there will be two other models in the future, and one of them is derived from another legendary model-Lancia Stratos.
