Redmi Note 8/8 Pro: problems with the brightness sensor, fix coming soon
It seems that the owners of Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro are experiencing software problems with the brightness sensor . After updating to one of the latest firmware versions, the automatic brightness adjustment feature would no longer work as it should. Following the appearance of this bug, numerous users flocked to the Xiaomi forums, complaining about what happened.

Whether it is Redmi Note8, or Note 8 Pro, the bug appears as the same: automatic adjustment via brightness sensor no longer works ( 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ). This means having to disable it and necessarily act through manual settings. The hitch seems to appear after the update to Android 10, which took place with MIUI 12 on Redmi Note 8 and 8T and with MIUI 11 on Note 8 Pro. Among other things, the same happened with the latter model for GPS not working after updating to Android 10.
In this regard, a moderator of the Xiaomi forum said that the developers are already working to fix the bug. The related fix should be introduced with the next update , so you won’t have to wait much longer.
