Car owner misjudged by assisted driving because of small eyes

Recently, the car blogger @常燕CY posted a blog, pointing out that the current assisted driving systems of many car brands generally have the problem of misjudging the state of drivers with small eyes.

Since most assisted driving systems identify the driver's eye shape, facial undulations and other data based on the camera, and then make judgments, many assisted driving systems directly judge drivers with smaller eyes as "fatigue driving".

According to the description, the GM Super Cruise, Xiaopeng P7 and Weilai ET7 have all judged it to be in a state of "fatigue" or "wandering", and Lantu FREE even turned on the cold wind in winter in order to "refresh" it.

Since these functions are closely related to higher-level assisted driving, this will affect the rights and interests of many small-eyed car owners to use more advanced assistance functions in the future.

In response, Xiaopeng Motors' official Weibo responded that the employees in charge of the autonomous driving business had received optimization needs overnight. Weilai Automobile also stated that it has established a research group for this purpose, and will solve the problem of misjudgment of the assisted driving function as soon as possible.

"Second Uncle" author denies plagiarism

Recently, the video "Three days back to the village, my second uncle cured my mental internal friction" became popular on the Internet.

However, some netizens questioned, saying that the video copy was similar in theme and style to the article "Second Uncle" published by Wu Biaohua, a language teacher at No.1 Middle School in Yueyang County, Hunan Province.

In response to this, UP host @伊哥guess responded that the video copy was written in two nights by himself. Before that, he had not read Mr. Wu Biaohua's article, nor had he adapted it.

After the video became popular, the second uncle himself and the video's author, @伊格記, received a lot of attention. In addition to authenticity, the author's own creative intentions are also controversial, and he is accused of "sublimating suffering".

But the author said that what the video wants to express is more of a life attitude of "respect and self-improvement", and even deliberately ridicules and deconstructs suffering:

From my second uncle, I found a criterion for evaluating the end of life at this stage—fullness.

At present, the second uncle and the grandmother have been picked up from the village, and @伊格計 also spoke out again, saying that everyone's concerns about the second uncle can "start online and end in forgetting each other".

Domestic smartphone sales hit a new low in nearly a decade

According to the latest report from market research agency Counterpoint, smartphone sales in China hit a new low in the second quarter of 2022, less than half of the historical peak sales set in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The last time sales numbers were lower than this quarter was nearly a decade ago in the fourth quarter of 2012, when the iPhone 5 was just released.

In terms of market share of various brands, vivo occupies the first place with a share of 19.8%; Honor's sales doubled year-on-year, and it is the only mainstream mobile phone brand to achieve year-on-year growth, ranking second; OPPO ranks with a share of 17.9% third.

It was followed by Apple, Xiaomi and Huawei, all of which experienced varying degrees of decline in sales. However, Apple saw the smallest decline in sales thanks to the hot sales of the iPhone 13 series.

Commenting on the performance of the Chinese smartphone market, senior analyst Ivan Lam said:

"Due to a combination of subdued consumer sentiment and a lack of bright smartphone innovation, we expect smartphone demand to remain subdued and the second half of the year will hardly be better than last year."

Some iPhone 14 lenses have problems

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported last week that some of Apple's memory and panel suppliers are facing component shortages, which will have a "limited impact" on iPhone 14 shipments this fall.

In a new report, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said some camera lenses provided by Genius had quality issues with film cracks.

At present, Apple has transferred orders for about 10 million lenses to another lens-focused company, Largan, to avoid major delays in iPhone 14 shipments.

Based on past experience, Genius can take up to two months to resolve coating cracks on its lenses.

In addition, there was news yesterday that the 5G baseband of the iPhone 14 series will be upgraded to the Snapdragon X65, which supports 10Gbps 10 Gigabit network speed.

Although it is difficult to achieve such a high speed in practice, the Snapdragon X65 has higher energy efficiency and better connection quality, and it is worth looking forward to the improvement of the iPhone 14's signal.

Coinbase plummets 21% amid SEC investigation

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched an investigation into whether cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase improperly allowed users to trade digital assets that should have been registered as securities.

In the view of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, many tokens have securities properties and need to be regulated.

But Coinbase disputes this: If it becomes a stock exchange, it will be difficult to have assets listed through them. Because few cryptocurrency issuers register their tokens with the SEC, exchanges cannot list unregistered securities.

At the center of the debate is how cryptocurrencies should be classified.

The SEC also charged Coinbase with insider trading last week and sued its employees.

Affected by this, Coinbase's stock price plunged 21% in recent days. Its shares have fallen nearly 80% this year.

Zuckerberg: Metaverse rivalry with Apple will determine the direction of the Internet

According to a recording of an internal meeting, at a recent Meta all-hands meeting, a Meta employee asked Zuckerberg:

"How does Apple prepare to launch its own XR headset by not participating in the Metaverse Open Standards Group, and how will that affect Oculus and our ecosystem?"

Zuckerberg responded by saying that this means that Apple will become a competitor of Meta in terms of product and concept.

In recent years, Meta has been working hard to promote the concept of interoperability of the Metaverse, and has joined hands with Microsoft, Epic Games and other companies to establish the Metaverse Open Standards Group (Metaverse Open Standards Group).

They hope to create an open protocol that will make it easier for people to travel between the immersive 3D worlds of the future with their virtual goods.

But Apple is not involved in the group.

Zuckerberg said that this is not surprising, and emphasized the underlying logical difference between the two entering the metaverse:

They believe that by doing everything hands-on and closely integrating their products, they can create a better user experience.

And we think there is still a lot to do with different companies in their respective areas of expertise, which will allow for a larger ecosystem to exist.

It can be seen that if the development of VR and AR really takes off as Zuckerberg expects, the positioning of Meta and Apple in his mind seems to be like Android and iOS, which will determine the next development direction of the Internet.
