Moutai earns 165 million a day

A few days ago, at the 2022 Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum, Chairman Ding Xiongjun of Kweichow Moutai summed up the four core potential energies of Moutai: unique origin protection, non-reproducible microbial colonies, unique brewing technology that has been inherited for thousands of years, and high-quality long-term storage. Base wine resources.

As for "base wine resources", Ding Xiongjun said: "For more than 70 years, Moutai has currently stored hundreds of thousands of tons of base wine in its wine warehouse. According to the current market value, we are many trillions."

In addition, he also said that since the "i Moutai" app, a direct-operated e-commerce platform of Moutai, was launched for more than two months, the turnover has exceeded 6 billion yuan and the registered users have exceeded 20 million. At present, Moutai ice cream is still in short supply.

Kweichow Moutai also recently announced its performance for the first half of 2022, realizing a net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies of 29.794 billion yuan, equivalent to an average daily profit of about 165 million yuan.

Fortune 500 released, Apple second

On August 3, the 2022 Fortune Global 500 list was announced.

In order of profit, the top five companies are:

  • "Saudi Arabia's national oil company" topped the list with a profit of about 105.369 billion US dollars.
  • "Apple" made a profit of more than 94.6 billion US dollars, from the top of the profit list last year to the second place.
  • Berkshire Hathaway, founded by Warren Buffett, came in third with about $89.8 billion in profits.
  • Google's parent companies "Alphabet" and "Microsoft" ranked fourth and fifth respectively, with profits exceeding $60 billion.

In terms of domestic companies, the three commercial banks, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank and Agricultural Bank of China, continued to rank among the top ten in the profit list. Among them, ICBC's profit is as high as 54 billion US dollars.

Chinese internet giants JD.com, Alibaba and Tencent ranked 46th, 55th and 121st respectively. This year is the highest-ranking year for the three companies on the list.

In addition, Huawei ranked 96th, Xiaomi Group ranked 266th, and the domestic car BYD entered the list for the first time, ranking 436th. China Evergrande and Sunac China fell out of the Fortune 500 this year.

It is worth noting that this year, the profitability of Chinese companies has widened the gap with the average level of Fortune 500 companies.

A total of 145 companies from China made the list this year, with an average profit of about US$4.1 billion. Although it has increased compared with previous years, it is still lower than the average profit of the Fortune 500 of US$6.2 billion.

The complete list interpretation can be viewed in Fortune FORTUNE .

CATL suspends North American factory project

CATL, China's largest electric vehicle battery maker, will delay announcing plans to build a North American factory, Bloomberg reported.

It is said that the North American factory of CATL has entered the advanced stage of site selection and negotiation, and can supply batteries to Tesla and Ford after completion.

At present, CATL plans to wait until after September to continue the project.

In addition, according to a late AUTO report, CATL will supply Tesla with M3P batteries in the fourth quarter, which will be mounted on the 72-degree Model Y, which will be launched early next year.

M3P batteries are an important part of CATL's future passenger vehicle solutions.

Wu Kai, the chief scientist of CATL, once said that CATL will divide new energy vehicles into three market segments: 1,000 kilometers of battery life, 700 kilometers of battery life, and 300-500 kilometers of battery life. In the 700-kilometer mainstream new energy vehicle market, CATL's solution is to use a combination of M3P batteries and Kirin battery structures.

Peking University terminates Chen Chunhua's employment contract

On August 3, Professor Chen Chunhua published an open letter on her personal WeChat account, responding to her disputes with Huawei and questions about her academic qualifications.

She said that after the promulgation of the "Regulations on Sino-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools" in 2003, she learned that the doctorate degree she obtained was not accredited. When she joined the National School of Development of Peking University in 2016, she told the truth that her doctoral degree was not accredited.

After the release of the open letter, Peking University also issued a statement saying that it had terminated the employment contract with Chen Chunhua.

Previously, Chen Chunhua recorded the details of the communication with Ren Zhengfei in the article "With Mr. Ren Zhengfei: Dialogues Around the Fireplace" published in January 2017, and received a lot of attention. Many unconfirmed news then circulated on the Internet.

Facebook's attempt to imitate TikTok may be digging its own grave

Facebook said in its plans for this year that it is trying to adjust its algorithm to make short video messages appear on more users’ homepages, rather than only pushing messages recommended by acquaintances as before.

In other words, Facebook wants to become a little more like TikTok.

TikTok currently has 1 billion monthly active users, while Facebook's parent company recently lost more than $23 billion. It is not unreasonable that Facebook wants to retain users through transformation.

However, Facebook's move is short-sighted, and it ignores the underlying logical differences between itself and Tiktok:

The expansion of the Facebook platform was initially based on the acquaintances of users in real life, and then formed a large social network through continuous links, generating a large number of push content.

Tiktok's algorithmic recommendation model does not rely on social functions, and can directly capture users' attention through personalized content.

Under the aggressive offensive of TikTok, Facebook ignored the barriers that it still has a first-mover advantage – the huge social network it has built is difficult for other platforms to replicate.

Therefore, if Facebook intends to give up its original basic advantages and invest in a competitive circle that has already entered the game with Tiktok, BeReal, etc., then Facebook may lose its existing dominant position.

What's more, the future will always continue to produce newer competitors than Tiktok.

However, for all Internet users, Facebook's transformation attempt may not be a completely bad thing:

As traditional giants such as Facebook lose their dominance, a new, more dynamic Internet world may also emerge.

The price of the iPhone 14 entry version may be the same as the previous generation

According to South Korean Naver poster @yeux1122, the iPhone 14 will likely maintain a starting price of 5,999 yuan, the same as last year’s iPhone 13.

Sources in the supply chain said that the reason why the price of the entry-level model will not increase is that the screen still uses the same notch as the previous generation, and many internal structures continue the previous generation, reducing costs.

The decision to keep the entry-level iPhone 14 at its original price this year is said to have been "made at the top of the management level," despite Apple's current face of rising production costs and ongoing supply chain turmoil.
