Tesla sells 75% of its bitcoin holdings
Tesla announced its second-quarter earnings on July 20. As of the end of the second quarter, Tesla had converted roughly 75% of the bitcoin it purchased into fiat, the earnings report showed. The conversion added $936 million in cash to its balance sheet.
Tesla disclosed in February 2021 that it had invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin. But this year, the impairment of bitcoin has affected Tesla’s profitability in the second quarter, and the value of Tesla’s digital assets has shrunk to $218 million.
During the earnings call, Musk said he was selling his bitcoin holdings to improve his cash position and remained open to increasing his bitcoin holdings in the future. Tesla may resume accepting bitcoin after wrapping up an investigation into the renewable energy needed to mine the currency.
Musk also added that Tesla is not selling any Dogecoins.
In addition, the financial report also shows that in the first half of 2022, Tesla has delivered 564,000 vehicles worldwide.
In terms of production capacity, Tesla’s California factory has an annual production capacity of 650,000 vehicles, the Shanghai factory has an annual production capacity of more than 750,000 vehicles, and the Berlin factory and Texas factory each have a production capacity of more than 250,000 vehicles.
Tesla said it believes the second half of this year will see record production as the Shanghai and Fremont plants reach their highest monthly production ever, and new plant capacity continues to climb.

A few days ago, Hengchi 5, the first model of Evergrande Motor, opened for pre-sale, and the luxury version is priced at 179,000 yuan.
Liu Yongzhuo, president of Hengchi New Energy Vehicle Group, said in an interview that after the pre-sale press conference, the market reaction was better than expected.
It is reported that Hengchi 5 is positioned as a compact SUV, equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor developed by Bosch, with a maximum power of 150kw, and a lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL, with a cruising range of 602 kilometers under comprehensive conditions.
At the same time, in order to dispel the concerns of consumers, Hengchi pioneered the "notarized car purchase" method. Users can pay for the car upon delivery and return the car for a refund within 15 days of pickup. All car purchase payments and refunds are made in a special account of the notary office.
However, according to Tech Planet, an insider of Hengchi Auto revealed that the current price of Hengchi 5 is at a loss. Hengchi hopes to drive sales through low prices to promote follow-up business development. Therefore, the price of 179,000 may only be temporary and may face price increases in the future.
As of July 20, the cumulative order volume of Hengchi 5 was 37,210 units.
In addition, people familiar with the matter revealed that Evergrande Property distributed the sales assessment task of Hengchi 5 internally on July 11, and the specific sales assessment indicators were determined according to the number of owners in the community.

Recently, the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) notified the French Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream product to detect "ethylene oxide".
Ethylene oxide is a carcinogen that can be used in the manufacture of household cleaners, personal care products, etc., and is currently widely used in washing, pharmaceutical, printing and dyeing industries.
Allegedly, related products have been distributed to more than 80 countries and regions including China.
A relevant Tianjin Customs staff member said that various market supervision departments across the country have now received recall notices. "Although not all the recalled products are faulty products, there are risks."
At present, vanilla ice cream has been removed from the official flagship store of Haagen-Dazs Tmall.
Not long ago, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration announced that two batches of Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream exported from France were found to have trace amounts of ethylene oxide.
However, General Mills China, the importer of Haagen-Dazs, responded: "None of the two batches of products involved in the Taiwanese import this time were sold in mainland China."

According to WSJ reports, Apple recently agreed to pay $50 million (about 340 million yuan) to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by customers over defects in the "butterfly keyboard".
Apple first introduced the butterfly keyboard on the fourth-generation MacBook in 2015, making the MacBook thinner but also making the keys more prone to breakage and failure.
This new design, which Jony Ive originally called "slim, precise and durable," has caught Apple in a round of criticism in recent years.
In 2019, Ai Faner also wrote an article denouncing Apple's butterfly keyboard. We believe that .
STEPN: True "decentralization" is difficult to achieve in the early days of Web3
In April of this year, the Web3 unicorn project began its first head-to-head confrontation with token speculators.
STEPN focuses on Move To Earn (money while exercising). After users use tokens to buy a pair of NFT virtual sneakers, they can start to earn new tokens (GST or GMT) through offline running, and then use the obtained tokens to continuously Upgrade your shoes.
The economic model of "Game Token GST + Governance Token GMT" actually borrows from another classic chain game Axie Infinity. It is this dual-token mechanism that leaves room for the project team to intervene and control the system.
Dual Token Model
In the face of big-money players pushing up the price of shoes, STEPN first changed the cost of producing shoes from 200$GST to 200$GMT, and then to 100$GST+100$GMT – which made a lot of hoarding for forging shoes Speculators of the coin suffered huge losses.
However, the frequent intervention of the mechanism by the project team also caused other users to criticize STEPN for "not enough Web3, not enough decentralization".
In this regard, Jerry, a joint creator of STEPN, bluntly stated in an interview with " " that true "decentralization" was difficult to achieve in the early days of Web3.
In fact, because STEPN relies on platform fees, NFT royalties and other income. Under free development, the more prosperous the market is, the more the project team will earn.
STEPN game application page
However, because each user's position is different, or even conflicting, "it is difficult to form a vote through a single position at an early stage, and it is difficult to cast an effective decision."
Therefore, in the process of early Web3 exploration mode, active participation, intervention, and tuning are actually necessary.
However, for the long-term and stable development of the project, STEPN will start to fix the "rules", explaining in advance what kind of situation and what kind of mechanism will be triggered, and the temporary intervention will be reduced accordingly.

The abbey of Saint-François, built in 1480, faced renovations, and architect Amelia tavella chose to use "copper" to repair and expand the previously collapsed part of the abbey.
As a metal, "copper" can emphasize the stability of the building through a simple and powerful geometric structure; it also has a soft luster, so that the combination of metal and granite does not appear too abrupt in the natural environment.
The transition from non-porous to perforated treatment echoes the natural trend of stone façades
The reflective effect of copper also adds a mysterious, sublime atmosphere to the church.
Cutouts in the copper walls help bring in light, replacing traditional church windows
Repairing and building on top of the ruins is a mutual embrace of the past and the present. The two are not for you to survive, but to blend with each other.
