Volkswagen unveils Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition

Twenty years ago, Volkswagen stuffed a 3.2L VR6 engine into the fourth-generation Golf to create the 240-horsepower Golf R32—the first Golf with the R badge.

To commemorate this classic model, Volkswagen recently released the Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition.

In order to distinguish it from the ordinary Golf R, the 20th Anniversary Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition uses Biscay blue on the rear-view mirror housings and rims. The door handle is also equipped with a projection light source, which can project the "20 R" on the ground. The lettering, and the "20" logo on the B-pillar.

The rear design is also quite combative, the roof is equipped with a newly designed spoiler, and the bilateral dual-exhaust exhaust at the bottom is quite eye-catching.

The interior of the new car remains the same as the regular Golf R, and the carbon fiber panel on the instrument panel adds a bit of combat atmosphere.

The new car still uses a 2.0T four-cylinder engine, but the maximum power reaches 328 horsepower. It is matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and is equipped with a 4MOTION four-wheel drive system with torque vectoring. The 0-100km/h acceleration time is only 4.7 seconds.

There is no need to understand the price, let's take a look at the GTI.

Ford fined $19.2 million for overstating fuel efficiency

According to Reuters, the Iowa Attorney General's Office said in a May 24 announcement that Ford will pay $19.2 million to settle false advertising charges.

The multistate settlement covers 2013-2014 C-Max hybrids and 2011-2014 Super Duty pickups.

New Jersey Acting Attorney General Matthew Platkin said Ford exaggerated the range of the two cars to consumers and published a deceptive ad called "Hybrid Games" touting the Ford C-MAX's performance over the Toyota Prius. Toyota declined to comment.

Tesla auto-assisted driving kills man, driver charged with manslaughter

In 2019, Tesla owner Kevin Riad killed two people in a crash in "Autopilot" mode. A preliminary hearing in the case was held recently, and the accused faces a charge of "manslaughter".

Tesla engineers testified that Riad activated Tesla's Autopilot feature about 20 minutes before the crash, setting the speed at about 120 km/h. The driver had his hands on the steering wheel at the time of the incident, but there is no indication he ever applied the brakes or turned the steering wheel.

Tesla has previously said that neither "Autopilot" nor the more sophisticated "Full Self-Driving" can drive the vehicle by itself, and the driver must pay attention to the road conditions and be ready to react at all times.

If convicted, Raid will be the first human driver to take full responsibility in a self-driving accident. (Fox & Business Insider & Daily Clipper)

It is worth noting that Tesla has recently established a department dedicated to responding to legal proceedings within the company and is directly led by Musk.

Volkswagen CEO: Chance to overtake Tesla by 2025

Volkswagen Group CEO Herbert Diess recently spoke at the Financial Times' Automotive Future Summit.

He said it was too early for the auto industry to fully switch to electric vehicles. But Diess seems to believe that the company he currently leads has the potential to become the world leader in electric vehicle sales.

He expressed his vision for Volkswagen to "become the global leader in electric vehicle sales by 2025," which he credits to huge investments over the years.

Diess even said he saw "tough competition" with Tesla, though he admitted he "didn't expect our major U.S. competitors to be so quick and their manufacturing capabilities are changing significantly."

But he still sees a chance for Volkswagen to overtake Tesla as the world's No. 1 by 2025, noting that its larger product line includes luxury and premium vehicles as well as production brands. (IT House)

Audi's 2022 models will support Apple Music

On May 19, Audi announced that nearly all 2022 models will support Apple Music natively. Audi will push software upgrade patches, upgrade in-vehicle systems, and add Apple Music functions.

It is reported that users can use Apple Music directly in the Audi in-vehicle system to access their own music library, without connecting the iPhone to the car through Bluetooth, and without turning on the CarPlay function.

Sounds like a convenience feature primarily for Apple Music users on Android. But Dong Chejun sincerely hopes that more models will support the "wireless CarPlay" function.

The author is a bit busy, so I will write the introduction later.
