Apple event: here are all the news, from iMac to AirTag

iMac, AirtTags, iPadPro, and more: the Apple event on April 20 presented many new features coming as early as next month . Expectations were high as always, and the conference did not disappoint Apple-fans. After the rumors of the past few days we finally have the list of new products from the Cupertino house: let's find out!

Apple news: the new iMac

After the announcement of the use of the ARM chip for new products, the iMac with M1 finally arrives . The new all-in-one chip has allowed an even thinner and more compact design than the previous one, reaching 11.5mm deep and weighing less than 5kg. For the display we find a 24-inch Retina 4.5K, while the camera reaches an HD resolution of 1080p.

On the new iMac, you'll find the brand new Big Sur, Apple's latest desktop operating system. The company promises a CPU that is up to 85% faster than previous iMac models, adapting to the needs of increasingly complex graphics and processing applications. The integration with the iPhone has also been improved: calls and messages will certainly arrive on the desktop, and it will be possible to answer directly from there, while with AirDrop and Universal Clipboard it will be possible to share photos, files, images and texts in real time.

For the new version of the Apple computer there are 7 bright colors to choose from. iMac will be available for pre-order from April 30, while it will hit the market from mid-May . The cost? 1,499 euros, including all accessories.

iPad Pro

Among the innovations presented at the Apple event , the new iPad Pro also stands out, also equipped with the M1 chip , which makes it the fastest iPad in history. For the display we find a 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR with oleophobic “fingerprint-proof” coating. The screen also has the anti-reflective coating and is compatible with the second generation Apple Pencil. The CPU and graphics will see a noticeable speed increase: up to 50% for the former, 40% for the latter.

The photographic sector is also noteworthy, with a wide-angle camera and an ultra-wide-angle camera of 12 and 10 MP respectively. For videos, however, you can record in 4K quality at up to 60fps. It also improves the audio part, with four speakers and 5 microphones. Like the iMac, the new iPad will also be available for pre-order from the end of the month and will hit the market in May . The price starts at 899 euros for the 11-inch version, while for the 12.9 one it goes up to 1219 euros.

iPhone 12 lilac and AirTag

No new iPhones at the Apple event, at least not in form. But there is a novelty in the color: the company has announced the purple version of the iPhone 12 and 12 mini . The new color is added to the choice of available colors of the smartphone which, remember, mounts the A14 Bionic chip and has a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR display in the smallest version, and a 6.1-inch in the "standard" one.

Among the most interesting news there is certainly AirTag which, we are sure, will be very appreciated by those who have the habit of losing things. The device consists of a small tracker that allows you to locate the object to which it has been hooked , finding it more easily. Using the “ Dov'è ” app, the speaker integrated in the device is played and, following the sound, the object is found. Keys, wallets, handbags, remote controls: the AirTag can be attached to any object. If this is close enough to the phone, the app can guide the user to the exact spot where what we have lost is, giving precise directions.

AirTag uses Bluetooth to send a signal that detects it from devices with the “ Where is” app installed, and communicates data anonymously and encrypted. The device is water resistant and can be customized with accessories such as lanyards, key rings, pendants or labels, so as to be really attached to any object. The weight is 11g and has a diameter of 31.9mm: truly negligible dimensions that make it comfortable to carry in any situation.
