Announced the new Pixel: Google smartphone for all tastes

Google's fall hardware event wrapped up yesterday afternoon after 30 minutes packed full of quick product announcements. Undisputed protagonists? The new Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A with 5G. Google now has three main smartphones: two midrange (one with 5G and one without) and one flagship. We can criticize Google for several things, but certainly not for their product line. Compared to a competition crowding the market with dozens of different products, Google keeps it simple by offering three products to three different target customers .

But that doesn't mean that dropping the choice on one of the three devices is easy! The 4A 5G isn't just a 4A with a different modem; the two phones have some key hardware differences, making the Pixel 4A 5G more of an alternative to the Pixel 5 than its "brother". The three devices are sold in the United States for $ 349, $ 499 and $ 699, prices at which you just need to replace the dollar symbol with that of the euro to understand how much they will be sold in Europe. Unfortunately, however, they will not be distributed on the Italian store .

Specifications and considerations

Google has created a handy chart to compare the three models, a list of information and specifications, which you can consult below:

You may notice some compromises made by Big G in order to sell the Pixel 4A 5G for $ 200 less than its big brother, such as the lack of wireless charging, a smaller battery, no water resistance and a lower display refresh rate. The features that bring the Pixel 4A 5G closer to the Pixel 5 are to be found in the camera and processor identical to the flagship model.

If I had to recommend one, I would tell you to definitely focus on the two lower-end devices. I was in fact disappointed that the new $ 699 Google flagship does not come with a processor as powerful as the Snapdragon 865, nor the Soli radar sensor already present on the previous generation Pixels .
